Barcelona is a great capital which brings together a solid European tradition with a distinctly Mediterranean character. Open, cosmopolitan, dynamic and creative, it is a city in constant motion, innovative and trendy. Barcelona budget travellers are welcome in a natural way into the city day life, making them feel as own citizens.
With more than two thousand years of history, Barcelona has been witness to some of the most important events in history, making it a must if you travel around Europe. With a wide variety of museums to visit, cultural tradition can be felt in every street of the city. Especially marked by modernist art, not only Gaudi's legacy seduces Barcelona's visitors through La Pedrera, the Sagrada Familia and Parc Güell, but also the Palau de la Música of Domenech i Montaner and Puig i Cadafalch's The Casa de les Punxes.
But Barcelona is not just modernist art, the city has an important medieval legacy: buildings, palaces and churches in the old city district, must-see: The Atarazanas at the Harbour, the Plaça de Sant Jaume or Santa Maria del Mar, a jewel of the gothic architecture.
And also Picasso, Miro, Tapies, universal artists who lived in Barcelona and left part of his work in the city.
Travelling to Barcelona also means walk down the elegant Passeig de Gràcia or the bustling Las Ramblas and get lost at the Barri Gotic's or La Ribera's Streets, take a boat -a Golondrina- to discover the Harbour or take the Blue Tram (Tranvia Blau) to climb to the Tibidabo. Not forgetting modern top architecture works: Santiago Calatrava, Norman Foster or Jean Nouvel have built today's Barcelona urban landscape.
The mild and warm Barcelona's climate makes it a city that practically lives outdoors throughout the year: bars and restaurants with confortable terraces where to have lunch, dinner or just a drink, 10 km of free-access beaches. You'll also find out that multiple events and activities are held in Barcelona all year long.
If you're looking for a modern and cosmopolitan mediterranean city, fashion and trend maker, high quality cultural events organizer and with a pretty cool nightlife, Barcelona is the perfect destination.

Worth the visit
I love Barcelona!! It's a very beautiful city, above all the city center, you should go for a walk from Las Ramblas to the beach, all that place is amazing! There are a lot of foreigners, very cosmopolitan city, the food is good though a little expensive. People are nice and the party at night is amazing! Definetely would go back :)
Nice!
I totally fell in love with Barcelona! Very nice city, modern, old and cosmopolitan. It was very hot and sticky but the sun was something to enjoy in the beach. It has nice beaches but they're a bit dirty. The food is very good, you should try paella! In las Ramblas they gave us flyers to go clubbing at night and even though it's a bit expensive, we had a lot of fun! There are plenty of foreigners, you feel like home :D anyway I would recommend everyone to go, it won't disappoint you!
Couldn't get enough of it
I went last summer with some friends and it was amazing. Barcelona is a very beautiful city, old but also modern. If you're lucky enough to go in the summer, you can enjoy the good weather spending a day in the beach, even though the water's pretty dirty.
A walk through las Ramblas is highly recommended, there are a lot of people dressed up with different costumes and it's worth watching. You need to be careful with pickpockets, above all in the city center.
The food's pretty good there, you can have some seafood and tapas, paella.. typical spanish :) you have to look for the right places though, it can get very expensive.
If you want to visit the touristic monuments, it can also be expensive so before you fly to the city, look for the ones you would like to visit the most!
One of the most beautiful cities i've ever seen
Barcelona is a great city if you like architecture works especially modernist buildings . A mus see for all visitors are the Gaudi places: Guell Palace, Casa Calvet, Casa Batllo, La Sagrada Familia. Barcelona has also a nice weather almost everyday, which makes quite easy to get around the city without problems.
Maybe expensive when you visit the most touristic areas, its well worth to buy the most basic stuff at a supermarket -drinks, some bread or cookies- and look for cheap tapas bars and restaurants.
And Barcelona has also a pretty cool nightlife!
