Hostel Editors Review: The .... Hostel (city)
My thoughts:
I didn't stay for a long time at the ... Hostel, but let's see ... The hostel is located at an easily walking distance from the station and tourist attractions. The environment is not interesting or actually pretty but is a quite safe area. The hostel is not easy to find, I had to ask because its located on a side street, I would recommend you to ask the Hostel staff for detailed instructions and clear directions before you arrive. The Hostel's best assets are: at first, its cleanliness; and in second term, but the most important, that it's one of the best hostels I've ever been where to socialize and make friends! The open-air layout of the rooms offers a unique atmosphere, and the relaxed setting ensures that visitors meet other backpackers from around the world.
The good:
The original key card they give you to access the common area, to open the locker or to get inside the bedroom. It makes the hostel look different and much more modern than other hostels I've been before.
The terrace is quite confortable, it's a a wide area where you can talk, eat and have a drink with friends and other backpackers. There's a free use gym too, which is also great, and not often found.
The common area, vey colorful, it has a bar, four computers with free fast internet, several places where to sit and a giant TV, very entertaining too.
The bad:
Rooms are very small, if you are alone there's no problem at all. But get prepared if other travellers have to go to bed or have to leave the room at the same time ... someone has to leave the room or climb into bed because there's not enough space stand up. Rooms decoration is really sparse, but normally they are clean.
Most have four to eight beds, though a few double rooms are available. All rooms have a window into the hall where everyone goes, and even though the window is closed, you'll hear all the noises outside, which is really annoying. It is absolutely impossible to sleep at night, since the common room is full of students looking to party in the city. So weary travelers beware, this may not be the best place to call it an early night.
The kitchen, with very few things to cook, and so small and narrow that it was really difficult to even prepare a sandwich.
Bathrooms are common, separated men and women rooms, but not so clean as the other Hostel areas.
And finally, staff members could be friendlier.
