Some suggestions ... but not the only nor the best, in Madrid there is always something different to do.

1. Tapas & Cañas Route

Sunday can be a very a special and useful day in Madrid. Starting the tapas and cañas route at Santa Ana and La Latina district, ending at Tirso de Molina, and discovering by the way the famous Rastro, the Madrid flea market where everything you'd imagine can be found.

2. The Plaza del Sol & The Plaza Mayor

Emblematic square for spanish people, from which every new year's eve the twelve clock's strucks are broadcasted ... everyone eats a grape at every stroke, a spanish tradition to have a lucky new year. In front of the clock, The 0 Km, Spain's Geographical Center. From there, take a walk to the Plaza Mayor, another emblem of the city, with its terraces and vendors. Beware of pickpockets, by the way, if the day is sunny, is an incomparable place to visit

3. Real Madrid ... or Atlético de Madrid

Do you like football? Santiago Bernabeu and Vicente Calderon are the football stadiums of the two Madrid main clubs, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. Check for Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid dates matches, maybe you can watch some interesting match of the Champions League or the Spanish league.

4. Art Galleries?

Go to the Museo del Prado. This art gallery, located in the heart of Madrid, at the Paseo del Prado, shows the works of major Spanish artists from the past centuries. Paintings by Goya, Monet, Bosch, Picasso, and many more lie within.

5. Things to do for free in Madrid

The Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, most famous modern art gallery in Madrid is free Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday  7pm to 9pm. Saturday Afternoons (from 2.30pm) and Sunday mornings (until 2.30pm). It is closed on Tuesdays.
The Museo del Prado. Free entrance Tuesday to Saturday 5pm to 8pm on Sundays.
The Palacio Real, former royal family residence. Free entrance on wednesdays
The Parque del Buen Retiro, Madrid's biggest park, a big lake inside, flower gardens and the palacio de Cristal. A must to visit in Madrid. Always free!
