Eat & Drink

The Valencian cuisine is natural and traditional. Fruits and vegetables of its fertile lands, along with fresh seafood are the main ingredients of this exquisite Mediterranean cuisine.

Nevertheless, rice cooked in many different ways is Valencia's cuisine star, with the international known Paella as the emblematic dish. Other traditional dishes include oven cooked rice, the "arroz a banda" (with fish), black rice (cooked with ink squid), the fideuá (with noodles instead of rice) or the "all i pebre" (with garlic and pepper).

Good Valencia white wines are usually drunk with paella, specially the white wines of Alto Turia and the Sierra, or red from Requena, Utiel and Campo de Liria.

Valencia is also well-known for its desserts cuisine: the fresh fruit depending on season, specially oranges, or a large baking as rosettes, arnadí i tallaetes (sweet pumpkin, sweet potato and almond), which may be eaten with a sweet wine called Moscatel. And of course, the Buñuelos, a typical kind of donut to be eaten during the fallas. In summer,  fresh horchata with fartons (elongated biscuits) will delight the visitor. Finally, while visiting Valencia you should try the famous Aigua de Valencia - Valencia water-, an orange juice and champagne based drink.
